Description

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Dayton Live invites our community to a free screening of the ThinkTV documentary Let Ohio Women Vote, followed by a panel discussion featuring Rachel Sussman (producer of the Tony Award®-winning musical SUFFS), Charles F. Kettering Foundation senior fellow Maureen O’Connor (retired Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court and former Lieutenant Governor), and Ann Rotolante (documentary filmmaker).

Let Ohio Women Vote tells the story of the long fight for women’s suffrage in our state – a fight which created unpredictable alliances as well as surprising connections to national events. Audience members will also be invited to explore the “Ohio Women Vote: 100 Years Of Change” exhibit created by Ohio History Connection.

LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS

Members of the League of Women Voters of the Greater Dayton Area will be present at the event to register voters and to provide information about the upcoming primary election. The League’s mission is to encourage informed and active participation in government. The League neither endorses or opposes any political candidate or party, but is political and takes positions on issues, particularly those related to voters’ rights. Established in 1920, the Dayton League is among the largest and oldest chapters in the country. It takes pride in its rich history and honors the perseverance of the suffragists who advocated for women’s voting rights.
