This page is intended to answer some of the most commonly asked questions about our venues and attending a performance.
What about accessibility needs?
What’s the recommended age to see a performance?
Because each show’s recommended age varies, you will find age recommendations on most event pages on this site. Regardless of age requirements, all audience members must have a ticket to attend the performance unless otherwise noted. For the consideration of all patrons, children on laps and/or babes in arms are not permitted at most presentations. If an age recommendation is not listed on the event page, please contact our Ticket Office at 937-228-3630 for details.
Backpacks & Bags
Can I bring a backpack or bag into the theatre?
Backpacks and large bags are prohibited in the Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, PNC Arts Annex, Metropolitan Arts Center, and The Loft Theatre. Bag checks will be in effect.
Before & After The Show
What time does the theatre open before a show?
The theatre lobby opens one hour before the performance. The house opens for seating 30 minutes before the performance. Patrons attending performances at the Schuster Center or Victoria Theatre should arrive a minimum of 45 minutes before their performance begins to allow for health and safety measures. For performances at The Loft Theatre or the PNC Arts Annex, please arrive 30-45 minutes in advance to allow for health and safety measures.
Are there preshow events?
Many of our performances have preshow events! Check the show’s listing on this website for specific preshow information.
What can we do after the show?
Your night doesn’t have to end after the final curtain — there are several downtown options for music and drinks following a performance. Visit the Downtown Dayton Partnership’s website for more information.
What are you doing about COVID-19?
Amid rising COVID-19 cases and the increasing threat of the Delta variant, we are taking several steps to provide the highest level of public safety for audiences, staff, volunteers, and artists in keeping with federal, state and local guidelines. How do I get there?
The Victoria Theatre, Schuster Center, PNC Arts Annex, and The Loft Theatre are located in heart of downtown Dayton’s arts district. The Victoria Theatre is located at the corner of First and Main Streets, The Loft Theatre is located next door to the Victoria Theatre, and the Schuster Center is located at the corner of Second and Main Streets, encompassing the entire block of Second Street between Main Street and Ludlow Street. The PNC Arts Annex is across the street from the Schuster Center, on the corner of Second and Ludlow Streets. For specific driving directions, visit our Directions & Parking page.
What should I wear? Is there a dress code?
You’ll see everything from t-shirts and jeans to suits and dresses – and everything in between! The theatre can be chilly, so you may want to bring a sweater or jacket. Please be careful about wearing perfumes and colognes when attending the theatre. Many have allergic reactions that impair their enjoyment of the performance.

What if someone needs to contact me during a performance?
In the event you should need to be contacted or contact someone attending a performance, you may call 937-225-3503 and speak with security. They will transfer the information to the House Manager, who will deliver the message as soon as possible.
Are firearms permitted in your venues?
Weapons are prohibited in the Victoria Theatre, Schuster Center, PNC Arts Annex, and Metropolitan Arts Center, and The Loft Theatre.
Food & Beverages
Is there somewhere I can have lunch or dinner before a show?

Will I be able to get a drink? What is served?
Yes, we have performance bars at each venue. We offer soft drinks, water, and full bar service, including beer, wine, and mixed drinks. With many performances, you can take your drink from the lobby bar into the theatre. In addition to being careful about spills, please be considerate of those around you and avoid rattling the ice in your cup or making other noises during the performance.
Are group tickets available?

What if I arrive late?
We’ll get you to your seats as soon as we can without disrupting the performance for other patrons. House management will likely seat you in latecomer seating until we can move you to your actual seats.
Where do I park?
The Arts Garage, on the northwest corner of Second and Ludlow Streets, is secure and clean, with on-site attendants. It’s open during normal business hours Monday through Friday and for all performances at the Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, and PNC Arts Annex. Where can I drop-off a passenger?
At the Schuster Center, the best place to drop a passenger off is the Second Street entrance. At the Victoria Theatre and The Loft Theatre, passenger drop off is on the First Street side of the building. At the PNC Arts Annex, the most accessible passenger drop-off location is at the corner of Second and Ludlow Streets.
Do you allow photographs to be taken?
Due to a variety of reasons – including show contracts, copyright laws, and performer safety – no photographs may be taken inside the theatres during a performance. Some shows (generally concerts) do allow photographs to be taken, and this will be announced in advance. You may take photos in the lobbies or the Wintergarden anytime you are attending the performance. Please don’t hesitate to tag us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! What about security?
We take your safety seriously! The downtown arts district is one of the safest areas in Dayton. To assure the comfort of our patrons, Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, PNC Arts Annex, and The Loft Theatre security services are provided by off-duty Dayton police officers and private security personnel during EVERY performance, both inside and outside the venues. Our venues, including The Arts Garage, are also actively monitored by security cameras. For your own security in any location, remember to lock your car doors and remove all valuables from your car when parking. In case of an emergency in the theatre, our ushers and House Managers are trained to help you quickly exit the facility.

Can I smoke in your venues?
Smoking is prohibited in the Victoria Theatre, Schuster Center, PNC Arts Annex, Metropolitan Arts Center, The Loft Theatre, and The Arts Garage. This includes any type of electronic cigarette. You must be at least 20 feet from an entrance to smoke.
What are the Ticket Office Hours?
Ticket Office and phone hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, 12 p.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, and 90 minutes prior to every performance.
How do I pick up my tickets?
We offer multiple delivery methods for tickets including print at home, standard mail, and will call. For specific ticket information, please contact the Ticket Office at 937-228-3630. Ticket Office and phone hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, 12 p.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, and 90 minutes prior to every performance.

Are my tickets tax-deductible?
Although we are a 501(c)(3) organization, according to IRS regulations, buying tickets is not tax-deductible.
How do I request a donation of tickets for my not-for-profit fundraiser?
Dayton Live is not accepting ticket donation requests at this time.
What about the weather?
Weather in Ohio can be unpredictable but as long as the cast and crew are here, “the show must go on!” In the unlikely event a show is canceled due to weather conditions or other emergency, we will post information to our website, social media accounts, and attempt to contact all ticket holders by email and/or automated call. If your ticketed performance goes on as scheduled but you choose not to attend, all standard exchange policies apply. Please contact the Ticket Office BEFORE your ticketed show begins if you have questions about those policies or would like to see what your options are. The Ticket Office can be reached Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and 90 minutes before a performance.
If you are attending a Discovery Series performance and your school is closed or delayed due to inclement weather on the day of a scheduled performance, please notify us before showtime that you will not be attending. You will have the opportunity to attend another performance (pending availability) or to receive a full refund. A decision must be made within 30 days of affected performance to be honored. In the event of a closing or other emergency the day of your scheduled performance, please call 937-228-7591, ext. 3040.
