Description

From the meditative stillness of an evening raga to the vibrant pulse of folk melodies from across the subcontinent, SITAR SUTRA — ECHOES OF A TIMELESS LAND is a musical journey through the emotional landscape of one of the world’s great classical traditions. Sitar Maestro Anupama Bhagwat, one of the foremost exponents of the Imdadkhani Gharana, guides audiences through an evening that begins in the ancient grammar of Hindustani classical music and gradually opens into the diverse musical cultures of India: devotional music, the lyrical poetry of thumri, and folk traditions from Rajasthan, Bengal, Kashmir, and beyond. Through expressive improvisation and brief narrative interludes, the concert offers audiences an intimate and engaging encounter with a musical world that spans centuries.

For the consideration of all patrons, children on laps and/or babes in arms are not permitted at most presentations.

Parking

The Arts Garage, on the northwest corner of Second and Ludlow Streets, open for all performances at the Schuster Center and Victoria Theatre. The Arts Garage is owned and operated by Dayton Live, so parking there actually helps support the arts venues used by all our great arts organizations.
